June 2012 saw the very first ELCAF take place at East London’s Village Underground. A day of curated pop-up stalls, talks, live-drawing and music showcased the very best of the vibrant comics and graphic arts scenes of London, Europe and the rest of the world. Based on the enormous success of that first year, we knew ELCAF had to continue. Our artist-in-residence for 2012 was the incredible McBess, a french illustrator based in London whose bold monochrome artwork gave the festival’s first unique identity, and added an element of rock and roll to the launch.
